A few days ago, as we were learning more about the city of Vidalia, GA, we spoke with the assistant to the City Manager about potential service opportunities. She mentioned United Way, and some other charities, and also the Ladson Genealogy Library and described it as possibly "the best genealogy library in the entire southeast." So, we visited it and we were impressed with it. A Mr. Ladson had developed a great interest in family history records and collected thousands of books. When he passed away, he willed them all to this library that carries his name. We will explore how we can work with them to both promote family history and to introduce the Church to the local people.
Then, I took a moment to think about it... Sr. Katherman was called to the Georgia, Macon Mission and then was assigned to the city of Vidalia, where a great (non-LDS) genealogy library is located... Not a coincidence, I think! The Lord is in charge...
Today we had a great lesson with a family on the plan of salvation. And we brought a sister to church with us today. Another brother that doesn't attend much also came to church today. And, we administered the sacrament to two ill sisters in their homes. We got caught in a big rainstorm and got soaked,
We are loving it here. It's hard to imagine, but next weekend, we will have been on our mission a month already...amazing!
